About the Artist:
Jodi Elke Smith
Jodi (Elke) Smith was born in Rosebud Victoria in 1968 and relocated to Tropical North Queensland at the age of nine. She grew up on the Northern Beaches of Cairns and in the Beautiful Rainforest Village of Kuranda. Jodi spent time living in Umagico and Seisia on the top of Cape York before settling on the Atherton Tablelands.
Jodi is a passionate talented Artist, a Spiritual Nature Lover with an affiliation with The Fairy Folk and their role as protectors of Mother Earth, from which Jodi draws her inspiration. Some of her works feature spirals or swirls which are symbols evident in many ancient cultures.
She has always dabbled in creative practices but seriously started painting in 2009 as a spiritual healing process and established Elke Art. Her main medium is Painting with Acrylics on Canvas, working with bright and earthy colours that exist in nature.
The creativity continues with Unique Fairy Houses, Macramé, Sculpture and Natural Living Plant Art where she fuses nature, plants and repurposed ceramic crockery such as Teapots, Jugs etc.
This year (2019) Jodi has decided to expand to an online enterprise where you can purchase Prints and Gift cards or Custom Original pieces to suit your personal Décor...
Jodi has been involved in Art Projects on the Atherton Tablelands and in Cape York Peninsula. She was a volunteer artist for the CAF'E 'Creative Arts for Everyone' youth art project. A Herberton Mural Project involving children in the Communiy and also at the 'Lama Lama Junior Rangers 10th Anniversary Celebrations working alongside the Cape Create Crew painting a mural and recycled art Sculptures with the Junior Rangers of the Port Steward/Coen communities.
Jodi's future goals are to improve and expand on her own unique style, to experiment and venture into different mediums and hopefully a Art exhibition which will showcase a variety of Art Pieces created by Elke Art.
